On Veterans Day, a dedication ceremony was held for the Capitol Theatre’s Wall of Honor at the Clearwater Main Library. The Wall was discovered when the Capitol Theatre was renovated in 2013. Breaking through the plaster that exposed an exterior brick face of the abutting building, workers uncovered a carefully lettered list of more than a hundred Clearwater area citizens who served in the armed forces during World War I. Many surnames that are familiar today, such as Coachman, McMullen, Nall, Plumb and Turner are among then. Some of the wall at the Capitol Theatre has been preserved, while sections that were removed during renovations have been reassembled at the Main Library. Congressman David Jolly, Mayor Cretekos, Councilmembers, and city staff attended. Visit the Clearwater Public Library System to see this imp0ortant relic of Clearwater’s history.
